Owner and Operator

I’m Deanna Shaffer, the owner of Garden City Hosts LLC, based in Augusta, GA. After calling Augusta home for over a decade with my family and our dog, I was inspired to start working in the short-term rental industry out of a true love for hospitality and housing. What began as a small side project in 2019, has since grown into a thriving local business and full time operation.

At Garden City Hosts, we provide comprehensive and professional short-term rental hosting services throughout Augusta and the CSRA. As trusted locals who live in the heart of the city, we ensure your property is cared for and your guests can enjoy a seamless stay.

Today, we’re proud to be recognized as the leading STR hosting company in the area, dedicated to supporting property owners and creating exceptional guest experiences.

Anne Sloan
Business and Operations Manager

Anne is an army brat who grew up all across the country and internationally. She spent her college days in Australia. After graduating, she worked in Southeast Asia, South America, and Japan. When she came back to the US, her and her mother opened up Riverwatch brewery in Augusta, Georgia. After the brewery closed operations she worked in engineering and manufacturing for a while before getting the opportunity to work with her good friends Deanna and Edna. She also has the sweetest (when he wants to be), cutest (all the time), corgi named Griflet.

Edna Martinez
Coordinator

Edna Martinez grew up in Las Vegas, NV and left after joining the Marine Corps. After completing her service, she moved to Augusta and pursued a degree in fine arts. She enjoys working in mediums such as the Etch A Sketch, figure drawing, and ceramics. She plans to continue her education in graduate school. In her spare time she likes to make art and go out latin dancing with her friends.

Paul Wheeler
Super Handy Man

Born and raised in the Southeast, Paul took an early detour from college to serve in the U.S. Army, where he developed a strong sense of discipline and service. After completing his military service, he settled in Georgia and returned to school, earning his degree in Computer Science.

Today, Paul works in IT by day, and by night he’s a devoted husband and proud father to a daughter who could charm the stars off the sky. Whether he’s tinkering with tech, tackling home improvement projects, or crafting in his woodworking shop, Paul is always building something—often for someone else. Helping others isn’t just a habit for him; it’s a way of life.
